James E. Johnston, M.S. - Trial Consultant
Jim received a Master of Science degree in psychology from the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands, with a specialization in psychology & law including decision-making, lie-detection, and memory.
He is a top contributor to the design and implementation of the firm’s scientific jury research methodologies. Jim’s expertise includes survey construction, scale design, sampling techniques, case theme development, witness evaluations, statistical juror profiling analysis, and conducting shadow juries. He has worked on hundreds of high-stakes cases all over the country including products liability, patent infringement, personal injury, wrongful death, construction, insurance bad faith, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, and other complex business litigation well in excess of a billion dollars in exposure.
Jim’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and he is a member of the American Society for Trial Consultants (ASTC) and the American Psychology-Law Society (AP-LS). Living abroad and extensive travel have provided Jim with an understanding and appreciation for a wide variety of cultures, and has enabled him to become fluent in three languages.
